Live each moment completely, and the future will take care of itself. Fully enjoy the wonder and beauty of each moment. — Paramahansa Yogananda
Today is Thanksgiving, and I feel thankful for all the love in my life, my wife, my children, friends and so much more. I am thankful for the kind people who read my words and for the opportunity to express my thoughts to others far away. Because they come ’round yearly holidays are a time to reflect on the past, but do not dwell there. People put too much pressure on themselves and those around them to create a heightened experience on the holidays. Remember the derivation of the word holiday – holy day. Keep holy the moment in which we are right now.
Our minds do have the power to refresh. Murky thoughts do not have to continue into the future if you do not want them to. Re-energize your soul today and be thankful for the gift of forgiveness. Be gracious but strong. Blocking the flow of negativity into your future will free your heart to once again soar. The word Realize means to make real. Begin to realize your liberation from the past.
Do not stand on your high perch and focus entirely on yourself. There are those around you who could benefit from grace and mercy. Look around you and act without selfishness. Express your thankfulness through kindness. The great writer Hermann Hesse wrote in Siddhartha: I have had to experience so much stupidity, so many vices, so much error, so much nausea, disillusionment and sorrow, just in order to become a child again and begin anew. I had to experience despair, I had to sink to the greatest mental depths in order to experience grace. Begin anew on this day of thanksgiving.
Reality beyond the moment is ephemeral. The transitory nature of what we can experience indirectly through others creates a frothy transcendent authenticity to our days. There in those connection we make with the lives of others is the true grace of God. Feeding our souls with the experienced of others reinforces how we can experience the wonder and beauty of each moment in our lives. Take into your life the beneficial, uplifting and positive emotions to overcome the anxiety which binds you. The word anxiety derives from the Latin for choke or strangle. Loosen the stranglehold the past has on your happiness.
Be thankful this wonderful day. Try your best to live each moment completely. Help lighten the burdens of those around you. Express your love both to the ones who bring a smile to your face and to those who need a smile on their faces. Happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy the wonder and beauty of these moments.
