Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. – Leo Buscaglia
Everyone can be a force for good in the world. Each day dozens of people may pass by, all of who might be tangled up in troubles or anxiety. Although in some cultures smiling at strangers is not considered appropriate, the smallest act of kindness can brighten another person’s day. Each positive action creates affirmative energy. As the days pass, the energy can ripple through society.
Give associates or friends an honest compliment with a smile. Everyone is trying the best they can at the moment. This doesn’t mean each person is doing their utmost, but that people try to do what they can depending on their situation. People have good days and bad, but perhaps a small well intended compliment can tip the balance more towards the positive. In this way each person has the potential to become a generator of hopefulness.
By caring for one another just a little bit more the cheerful effect is magnified. The news is filled with negative, frightening, puzzling events. This negativism has a harmful effect on individual’s overall happiness. The world can seem to be hemmed in by problems and strife. The increased anxiety causes folks to withdraw from one another. But small acts of caring loosens the self-imposed restraints and hope will arise. Although it is important to be informed, it should not prevent caring for one another. Do not let headlines and hearsay divide you from others. We all are cousins, just some relationships are more distant than others.
All life is related. All humans are, in a very real sense, our family. Listen to others, reach out a helping hand, offer kind words, care about one another. A touch of graciousness goes a long way to making a better world. Smile and spread love. Peace.
